The production of Armox 500T in Mobile has undergone extensive and rigorous testing within SSAB, the DEVCOM Army Research Lab (ARL), and the U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC). Material produced in Mobile has been directly compared to plates produced in Sweden for chemistry, material properties, and ballistic performance. After successful initial trials, additional trials ensured repeatability for large-scale production, meeting SSAB’s high standards.

SSAB operates fully integrated mills, providing a one-stop shop for finished quench & tempered material. Our production process begins at the scrap stage and continues through finished quenched & tempered plates, including blasting & priming, all at the same facility. This allows us to control quality at every step and provide a stable supply chain for our clients.
