Red Bud Industries, located in Red Bud, Illinois, is now offering a fully automatic Coil Debanding Robot. Removing bands from coils often positions personnel in potentially hazardous areas. In addition, once cut, the bands have to be manually picked up and placed into a scrap bin. Red Bud’s new Coil Debander automatically detects and cuts both O.D. and I.D. bands. Once cut, they are automatically fed into a band winder or optional chopper. The unit can also detect the leading edge of the strip so that it can be automatically positioned under the coil. In addition, the unit can be used to automatically measure the coil’s width and OD, which can be used to further automate downstream functions such as automatic coil loading onto the Uncoiler.
