METROPOLITAN STATION: LUBLIN

October, 2024: A regional rail/bus hub, Metropolitan Station in Lublin, Poland, forms part of a wider development called the Integrated Transportation Centre that will connect the city’s urban, regional and national transport systems. The building is housed in a glazed volume, surrounded by large stainless steel columns that support the canopy. Within this glazed volume sits a second space, described by Tremend Architecture Studio as a “box in a box,” containing waiting rooms and cafe spaces. Together, the largely glazed structure and open latticework of its columns is intended to create an “air of lightness” for the building. The station opened in 2023 and includes a solar array and rooftop garden for sustainablilty.
