ASTM International presented its top annual award – the 2024 Award of Merit – to Daniel Geist for his contributions to ASTM’s analytical chemistry for metals, ores, and related materials committee (E01).
The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Geist was recognized for his vast contributions as a technical writer for the committee, his supportive role as its membership secretary, and his valuable interaction with other organizations regarding laboratory processes.
An ASTM International member since 2006, Geist has been previously honored by the committee with the Award of Appreciation (2005), the Ted Linde Leadership Award (2015), and the H.V. Churchill Award (2021).
Geist works as director of operations, principle at Rocky Mountain Reference Materials, LLC, a position he has held since 2016. His career concentration is chemistry, and he graduated with a bachelor’s (1981) in biology & in chemistry from Regis College and master’s degree (1990) in material science from the Colorado School of Mines.
Prior to his current position, Geist worked for Analytical Reference Materials International and Lockheed Martin Astronautics.
